Edmonton’s acclaimed Strathcona String Quartet is launching its new CD “Blue by Four” at a festive CD release concert and party on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Yardbird Suite in Edmonton.
The quartet will be joined by Edmonton jazz greats Joel Gray on Trumpet and John Taylor on Bass. The CD and the concert feature jazz arrangements and original jazz compositions by celebrated Edmonton violinist, violist and composer George Andrix.
The unique sound of a classical string quartet playing jazz music, the addition of superb jazz musicians and the genius writing by composer/arranger George Andrix gives this CD an eclectic sound that is seldom heard and will appeal to classical and jazz music fans alike.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. The CDs will be for sale at the release party and are $20.
